Fender Goes Emo: Unveils Mikey Way Signature Jazz Bass

Celebrating bassists, the Mikey Way Signature Jazz Bass offers enthusiasts a chance to own the same instrument Way played during his 2022-2023 global reunion tour with My Chemical Romance.

This special Jazz Bass guitar marks over two decades of Way’s impact on the music scene and is a nod to the 1970s, a decade Way acknowledges as pivotal to his musical journey. The Limited Edition Mikey Way Jazz Bass stands out with its silver sparkle finish, reminiscent of the finish on Way’s signature Squier Mustang Bass. Its alder body ensures a harmonious blend of lows, mids, and highs.

The 70s C-shaped neck profile, designed thinner at the first fret and thicker at the twelfth, is paired with ‘70s J Bass pickups, delivering the rich, robust tone synonymous with Fender. With 20 medium jumbo frets and a 9.5” radius bound fingerboard, it offers contemporary playability. The 4-saddle bridge, with modern slotted saddles, ensures both tuning stability and a sharp attack.

The design is completed with black block inlays, binding, and a black painted head cap, all approved by Mikey Way.

“It’s as if the bass jumped straight from my dreams into reality,” Mikey Way said. “It’s my most favorite instrument I’ve ever played.”

A unique feature is the autographed pickguards by Mikey Way, turning them into invaluable pieces for any music aficionado. Eight lucky individuals will find these treasures; four will be concealed in gig bags of Mikey Way’s Signature Jazz Bass sold by Fender’s reputable global dealers, and another four on Fender.com.

Consistent with its legacy, the Fender Artist Signature Series celebrates legendary artists by evolving products and sharing their stories, crafting instruments that mirror the distinct preferences of the world’s top guitarists and bassists. The Limited Edition Mikey Way Jazz Bass is a blend of striking aesthetics and powerful sound, making it a centerpiece in any collection.
